Join me at the Emily Takes Notes fundraiser!
Houstonians: take note!
Hello!
Much like I was documenting the Texas legislature earlier this year during the regular session, my friend Emily Hynds has faithfully documented the goings-on of Houston City Council for FIVE YEARS. She has performed this valuable service for free, inviting people who can’t take time off from their busy schedules to engage with their local government.
She’s holding a fundraiser this Sunday to repay herself just a little of what her time is worth, and I’m on the host committee because I believe what she does is really important.

“These notes are used by journalists, city and county employees, community advocates, and most importantly: every day people who just can’t make it to city hall every Wednesday. Your support will help me continue this vital work and make sure that Houston’s city council remains accessible to the people they are meant to serve … us!”
Even if you can’t make it, a donation would help Emily keep doing this work. And if you can’t afford a ticket, you can pay what you can or use one of the sponsored tickets that have been purchased. Kids get in free.
